Our love story began in 2020 with a swipe, a message… and a COVID test requirement. (Madeline insists this was a very reasonable request, and Mat happily agreed.) We officially met in Rhode Island, and our first date felt straight out of a fall movie, wandering through a corn maze together on a crisp October day. Little did we know that this maze would become a meaningful place for us in more ways than one.

In 2022, life took us in different directions when Madeline moved to Maine to go to dental school and Mat stayed in Rhode Island. Since then, our relationship has been fueled by weekend drives, overnight bags, and audiobooks – mostly on Mat’s part as he managed to make the trip nearly every weekend. Distance hasn’t always been easy, but it’s taught us to cherish our time together and appreciate the little moments.

When we’re not traveling back and forth to see each other, we’re usually planning our next adventure. We love to travel and have been lucky enough to explore Iceland, Greece, Ireland, and Arizona together. At home, our adventures look a bit cozier – trying new restaurants, testing out new recipes in the kitchen, and spending time with our cat, Willow, who firmly believes she is the center of our universe.

In 2024, Mat brought our story beautifully full circle by proposing in the same corn maze where we had our first date. This time, he didn’t get lost, he surprised Madeline with a scrapbook filled with memories from our life together and a question that led to the easiest “yes” ever.

Because travel has always been important to us, it feels only fitting to celebrate our next chapter in Mexico. We’re so excited to gather our favorite people, soak up the sunshine, and begin this next adventure together.
